Me, Jane (Boatniks), Pam (Sea the USA),?, Donna (Runaway) and Diane (Beachside). Bryce from Boatniks Another gorgeous sunset.                               Pam, myself, Jeff and Jeff.                                     Apothecary building Beaufort, NC, pronounced Bo-fert, (not to be confused with Beaufort, Bew-fert, SC), is a great place!  It was charming, quaint and everything you want. Actually, both Beaufort’s were great places to stop.  Beaufort, NC had beautiful, blue water, because it was close to an inlet. The town had a lot of historical places to see.  Actually they had an area, dedicated to the history of the town, with buildings constructed to resemble the past.  Beaufort also had many restaurants, small stores and a brewery.  We stayed at Beaufort Town Docks which was the perfect locatio...

Carolina Beach State Park & Swansboro,, NC

Rhonda and Lee on Ineffable                                          Venus Flytrap                                                       Carolina Beach State Park was very nice.  So many trails and it is home to the Venus Flytrap, a unique carnivorous plant!  It’s right off of the Intercoastal Waterway and has access to Cape Fear River.  The price was right too, about $30 a night.  They had bathrooms, showers and an area to sit inside.    We walked a lot of the trails.  Some were right on the beach, while others meandered through the woods and up a few hills.  We saw the Venus flytrap.  They’re very small, not what I expected.    While here, we met Jane and Bryce on Boatniks.  We had a g...

North Myrtle Beach & Southport, NC

Image
This was a big navy ship (we think) coming out on Cape Fear. Docktails on Robert Creech’s front porch.   His wife was so sweet too!                     Beautiful sunset at Morningstar Marina. A cruise boat on the Waccamaw River. This could have been for weddings at the marina.  The small beach area but so pretty. I think “A Walk to Remember” Was filmed here. Someone’s gorgeous rose garden. This is the small area with restaurants, bars, etc.   At Southport, NC. This is about where the accident occurred. Harbourgate Marina A lighthouse on the Waccamaw River So, North Myrtle Beach - Waccamaw River - don’t cruise that on a weekend!  The river was crazy busy - so many boats, so many wakes!  The last time we had cruised on a Saturday was back at Fort Myers and there was a lot of boat traffic.  After that, we swore off of Saturday travels; but for whatever reason, we decided to travel on this particular day, in hin...

Georgetown, SC

Image
Georgetown, SC was fun.  We were with some of our friends, Nagui on Boundless and Tim and Martha on Margin.  We stayed at Georgetown Landing Marina - right downtown - perfect! We stayed 2 nights.  The town was a few blocks long, pretty small but had everything you needed.  I actually enjoy the smaller places better than the cities.  The bigger cities are so overwhelming.  Georgetown was easy, quaint, and nice with a great river walk! Tim, Nagui, Jeff, me and Martha.  We walked in the residential neighborhood and found chickens.                                         The river walk.                                 This drink was so good!                                    Such...

Charleston, SC

So, Charleston is a a big place and so is Charleston Safe Harbor Marina.  We were a bit overwhelmed.  It was a big harbor and a little windy that day.  We did venture to town - very clean for a bigger city.  It reminded me of Savannah - just a bit cleaner.  While we walked around, I thought this place would be a nice girls trip.  We met a sailboat, docked next to us. It was a father and daughter with a crew of 3 on a 43’ sailboat.  They had sailed from Norway, down to the Caribbean and was making their way back to Norway - that’s a bigger loop than ours!
