Near the downtown area, Silver Beach, is also quite lovely.
It has a huge splash park, carousel and kid’s museum.

I had heard St. Joe was a neat place! Actually, some people (Ashley - “send it” from trip in Savannah) I know had been here about a week prior and they loved it! Now I see why! It was a great place. We stayed at the municipal marina (West Basin Marina). It had nice amenities, along with loaner bicycles.

Our first day, Saturday, September 16, we rode bikes to town with Tony and Jane from Clean Cut. It just so happened to be Fall Fest, so lots of children’s activities, vendors, farmers market, etc. Fall Fest was held on the “bluff,” overlooking Lake Michigan. It was a nice day for it. We ended up going to a winery to sample some wine. Later that evening, we met Joe and Lynn on No Rush. They’re gold loopers and just crossed their wake in July of this year. We all enjoyed docktails on Clean Cut. They gave us lots of information for our upcoming journey down the Mississippi.

It rained the next day - pretty much all day! We spent a little time in the captains lounge at the marina - just to get off the boat. That evening, we walked down to the pier/lighthouse with Mark Uggeri from Pronto. He actually lives close to here and brought his boat here to do some work. The waves were kicking!!!

Our last day, Mark (Pronto) took us to the grocery store and dropped us off in town. We walked around and enjoyed lunch at Buck Burgers and Brew - delicious burgers! Later that evening, we enjoyed a stroll on a calmer beach at Lake Michigan. Tomorrow, we will go to Michigan City, Indiana.
