Chambly Locks

Jeff and I.
One of the swing bridges.

We visited Firt Chambly.
The fort.
A slot in the walls for firing guns.

                                 Such a uniques bridge.
                                       Some graffiti.

The lock masters headquarters - most of these are restored.
                                     One of the locks.
                                    Lock wall at sunset.
                                    Beautiful cruising.
Lots of ducks and their babies.
Gorgeous sunset of a church’s steeple.
Boomerang and Stay Cool on the lock wall.

Our first set of locks in Canada - the Chambly Locks and I think it 9 locks - so many I lost count. It was beautiful cruising; going through narrow channels and passing charming, small towns. People were walking their dogs on trails or riding their bicycles - just enjoying the the outdoors and great weather.

The locks were manually operated and lock staff were so nice!  They would walk to the boat, asking about our day, where we were headed and then advise us as to our positioning the the lock - really making it easy!

We’ve purchased the Parks Canada Pass, so we can stay on the lock walls for free.  There will be a small fee for electricity, when available, less the $10 US.  Some of the locks don’t have power.  All of them have had restrooms and some even have showers!

It’s been a good day!  No more salt water, no more tides and we’re traveling with our Canadian friends, Rachel and Malcolm on Stay Cool. It’s nice traveling with friends - with learned a lot from them.
