Goodbye Florida!

Image
Our last stop in Florida was at Fernadina, Florida.  We stayed at Fernadina Harbor Marina - right downtown and easy to walk to town.  It was a charming place, full of shops, restaurants and bars.  We met up with our friends, Jill and Joel, on Smile with the Risin’ Sun, as well as Rusty and Darleen on Bama Breeze.  Another Rossi owner, John, on Neo, was also in Fernadina - 2 great looking boats docked at the marina!  The cool thing about Fernadina is that Amelia Island is close by. We walked to Amelia Island Beach one day. It’s a bit of a hike and I was wishing we had bicycles.  The beach is an area to find sharks teeth and we found some!  There is also a state park, Fort Clinch, located between Fernadina and Amelia Island.  You can view remnants of the fort and the beach at Fort Clinch is also a good place to find sharks teeth.  Our plan was to look at the fort but after walking so far to Amelia Island, we just returned to the marina.  We were tired, hungry and we were leaving the foll

Palatka to Jacksonville, Florida

We left the mini Rosborough Rendezvous on Friday, March 24, as we headed back to Palatka, Florida. We stayed at Crystal  Cove Marina.  It was a hotel and a marina. There was a restaurant/bar and a shower house.  We were told we could use laundry in the hotel, but it was broken.  There wasn’t anywhere to go or walk to.  We had to stay 2 nights due to potential weather. But, we made the best of it.   After leaving Crystal Cove, we headed back to Jacksonville.  We decided to stay at Port 32 @ Ortega Landing and I’m so happy we did! They were having a promotion - stay one night and get 3 free!  Although, I was offered so many different promotions (purchase one night, 2 free; purchase 1 night going south and get 2 free and then the same on return trip),  I managed to get the first and best deal for us! This was such a nice marina! All of the amenities, plus a heated pool, beautiful captain’s lounge and it was within walking distance to restaurants and a grocery store.  Plus, our friends, T

Hontoon Island to Silver Glen Springs

Whew!  It’s been a while since I’ve logged anything and we’ve really moved on!  I’m gonna try to catch up over the next few weeks.   We left Hontoon Island with our friends, Naugui (Boundless) and Tim and Martha (Margin) and returned to Astor.  We stayed at Dennis and Laurie’s house again.  But this time, there were more Rosborough owners who showed up!  It was a mini Rosborough Rendezvous!  I think we had a total of 8 boats! The following day, the Rosborough Flotilla headed to Silver Glen Springs.  It was such a fun cruise with all of these boats.  We went through a narrow channel, named Blue Creek, which was full of birds, a few gator and a few homes, It was so scenic!  Laurie was on top of her Rosborough and taking pictures of the flotilla.  They were great pictures!  She also took pictures/videos of each boat zooming by.  It was super cool and really made me appreciate the Rosborough family and the pride they have for their boats. We made it to our destination in about an hour to t

Palatka to Hontoon SP (St. John’s)

Our friend, Nagui. His electric motor quit.  Tim and Martha After leaving Palatka, we headed to Astor, Florida.  We crossed Lake George, it was a bit windy, but we managed just fine.  The river is fairly large but it narrows the closer we get to Sanford/ Orlando.  We are loving the St. John’s River!  We’re traveling with our friends, Nagui on Boundless and Tim and Martha on Margin.  The river runs opposite of most so even though we’re heading south - think Orlando/Sanford, the river is running north.  It’s hard to get used too - I don’t think I ever did.  Anyway, there’s a lot of free docks and anchorages in the St. John’s.  With the dog, docks are much easier and if they’re free, that’s the best. On our way to Hontoon Island State Park, we stopped at Dennis  Robbins and Laurie’s home on the river.  They were sooo nice and welcoming to the 3 boats!  We all were able to stay on a neighbor’s dock wall.  They fixed dinner for us in their lovely home and gave us so much information about t

There really wasn’t anywhere to go but to Intuition Brewery, so that’s where we walked to.  After Jacksonville, we headed to the iconic Whitey’s Fish Camp. Supposedly, if
