We left Buzzard Rock Marina around 9 am this morning and made our way to Bumpus Marina in Bumpus Mills, TN. The weather has been good and the water actually calmed a bit throughout the day. We passed one tow boat - but otherwise, we didn’t see much boat traffic - the occasional fisherman now and again.
At Bumpus Mills, it was a very small marina - mostly fishing boats. The marina was pretty run down. We tied up to the fuel pump. It was fine for the night and only $25 for the night. We will leave tomorrow for Clarksville.
We arrived in Clarksville on Wednesday, May 14. It was such a nice marina! We had a nice dock with a covered slip; and with BoatUS discount, the price was about $37.00 a night for a covered slip. Boy, we needed that cover too - it rained so hard!! Liberty Part Grill Restaurant is right up the hill from the marina. The service wasn’t the best but the food was ok, with half-price wine on “Wine down Wednesday.”
Also near the marina was Liberty Park. There were a couple of very nice walking paths. This was a great place and Traxx and us. On the trail, they had tree identification markers. Jeff knows most of his trees but it helped me brush up a bit.
We had to uber to the town of Clarksville. It’s a nice town with boutique shops, restaurants and breweries. The breweries are all owned by the same people, but each one has its own vibe and different food.
Our favorite was the Strawberry Ale Works on Strawberry Alley. The food was delicious and so was their beer. They had excellent service. We also enjoyed a meal at Dark Horse Brewery - it was good!
We didn’t make it to Nashville. Unfortunately, Cheatham Lock was closing for 10 days and it just didn’t fit in our time schedule . Honestly, since Clarksville is such a smaller place, we probably enjoyed that more anyway.
