In Chesapeake City, Maryland, we stayed at a free wall - $15? for power and maybe $10 for water, if needed - super cheap in a cute little town! We’re traveling with our friends, Rachel and Malcolm on Stay Cool. They are at a marina and we chose the free wall. It’s a cute, walkable town - great for an overnight stop, as we planned our course/time to cross Delaware Bay.
We crossed Delaware Bay - followed the current all the way and the wind was in our favor! Great planning made an easy crossing. After crossing the bay, we made it to Utsch’s Marina in Cape May, NJ. Utsch’s Marina isn’t much; however, the owners are nice. We even received a welcome bag! Utsch’s Marina had older docks with pilings and vertical rods on the pilings with rings attached to the rods. You tied your lines to the rings. The docks were floating but the pilings were not - that’s what the rings on the rods were for. Anyway, we figured it out - almost too late!
I think we missed some things, in Cape May, because I’ve heard other loopers comment how much they loved Cape May! I met a looper who mentioned she had found the “white diamonds” on the beach at Cape May. They looked like clear rocks - pretty. Perhaps, a trip to Cape May might have to happen later.
Entering Cape May.Smooooth!
